About

7 years building backend systems, 3 years securing networks before that.

I build backend and distributed systems where correctness, security and uptime directly affect customer money. I work closest to the parts of a system where mistakes are expensive: authentication, money movement, custody, concurrency, distributed state and failure handling.

Most recently, as Technical Lead at Dana Blockchain Solutions, I led a ten-person engineering team from an empty repository to three production financial platforms handling live customer assets. I owned the architecture, built several of the highest-risk backend services and ran infrastructure and production delivery end to end. A second product later launched on the same exchange core with only its own business logic and client surface added.

Before that I spent three years at Part Software Group, where I designed the company-wide API gateway, worked as backend engineer and architect on Shahab, an AI cloud platform, conducted more than 250 technical interviews and taught backend development to around a hundred engineers.

Alongside full-time roles I ship products independently across telecom, logistics, e-commerce, payments and AI. In 2026 I co-founded FitYar, an AI fitness and nutrition coaching app, where I integrated GPT models into the product while keeping the core tracking and execution system independent of the AI layer.

Three years in network security before returning to software engineering still shape how I approach custody, secrets management, threat modelling and production boundaries.

    Independent Full-Stack Engineer

    Self-employed

Ships production platforms end to end as the sole engineer, alongside full-time roles.

    self-employed · remote

    • Delivered platforms across fintech, logistics, telecom and e-commerce: a digital goods marketplace with automated fulfillment, an international freight and customs platform, a fiber-optic subscription system for a telecom operator, and the payment and subscription layer behind a mobile app with more than a million active users.
    • Owns architecture, backend, frontend, infrastructure, deployment and long-term maintenance as the sole engineer on each system.
    • Co-founded and launched FitYar, an AI fitness coaching app built on GPT models — conversational program generation, calorie and macro tracking and a 400+ exercise library — owning backend, infrastructure and AI integration alongside one frontend engineer.
    • Builds Node.js and TypeScript backends with modular, service-oriented architectures; owns data modelling, API design and third-party integrations.
    • Runs the operational layer: containerized environments, CI/CD pipelines, network and TLS hardening, secrets management and monitoring.

    Technical Lead

    Dana Blockchain Solutions

Most senior technical role, reporting to the CEO; owned architecture, delivery and infrastructure for three fintech platforms built from zero.

    full-time · on-site

    • Owned architecture, delivery and infrastructure for three production fintech platforms built from zero — BitBaax (crypto exchange), TetherBaax (Tether wallet and OTC) and Goldmim (physical and digital gold trading) — all handling live custody of customer assets.
    • Led a ten-person team across backend, frontend and QA: set technical direction, established architecture and engineering standards, reviewed high-risk designs and production changes, and owned infrastructure, CI/CD and production operations end to end.
    • Architected a modular backend on Clean Architecture and domain-driven design: about 26 domain-oriented modules over an event-driven layer (RabbitMQ, MQTT, WebSocket), backed by replicated MongoDB and Redis, built as a reusable exchange core. TetherBaax launched on it with only its own business logic and client surface added.
    • Personally built the highest-risk services: authentication, trade engine, wallet management, treasury, asset management and blockchain interaction.
    • Built multi-chain deposit and withdrawal infrastructure across Ethereum, BSC, Bitcoin and Tron, monitoring about 25 million mainnet transactions a day; load-tested the internal ingestion and validation pipeline at 40,000 TPS.
    • Designed the custody security model: segregated hot and cold wallets, multi-sig Safe contracts, HashiCorp Vault, and protection against double-spend and chain reorganizations.
    • Built and operated the delivery pipeline (GitLab CI: lint, unit, end-to-end, security scanning, deploy), cutting the failure rate from about 40% to 15% across 950 runs.

Quick answers

8 questions

The questions that come up most.

What do you do?
I am Mohammad Zafardoost, a senior backend engineer based in Muscat, Oman. I build distributed and financial systems — exchanges, wallets, custody, payments and platform infrastructure — in Node.js and TypeScript, and I have led engineering teams as a Technical Lead.
What was your most recent role?
From June 2024 to August 2026 I was Technical Lead at Dana Blockchain Solutions, where I led a ten-person team and owned the architecture, delivery and infrastructure of three fintech platforms — BitBaax, TetherBaax and Goldmim — all handling live custody of customer assets.
Which technologies do you work with?
Node.js and TypeScript on the backend; PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis for data; RabbitMQ, MQTT and WebSocket for messaging and real-time systems; Docker, Kubernetes and GitLab CI for delivery. I also integrate LLM APIs in production products.
What kind of systems have you built?
Fifteen production systems across fintech and blockchain, AI products, commerce and payments, logistics, telecom, IoT and platform infrastructure — from a centralized crypto exchange and a gold trading platform to a company-wide API gateway and an AI fitness coach.
Do you have experience leading teams and hiring?
Yes. I led a ten-person engineering team at Dana Blockchain Solutions, conducted more than 250 technical interviews at Part Software Group, and taught backend development to around 100 engineers across four cohorts, 25 of whom were hired into the company.
What is your background in security?
Before software engineering I spent three years, from 2016 to 2019, as an IT security specialist delivering network infrastructure and security projects — firewalls, IDS/IPS and endpoint protection — and I hold CCNA, MCSA and Kaspersky certifications. That background shapes how I design custody, secrets management and production boundaries.
Are you open to new roles?
Yes. I am open to senior backend and distributed-systems roles, remote or on-site. The fastest way to reach me is by email at [email protected] or [email protected], or on WhatsApp and Telegram at +968 9792 1493.

I had the pleasure of working with Mohammad Zafardoost for two years at Part Software Group, where I was leading the API Gateway team and Mohammad was one of our key team members in the infrastructure division.

Mohammad consistently impressed me with his strong technical knowledge, eagerness to learn, and calm, respectful demeanor. He demonstrated excellent problem-solving abilities and had a natural talent for effective teamwork. He was also highly reliable when it came to managing and delivering tasks independently.

One of his most notable contributions was playing a significant role in the design of our digital wallet platform — a complex and impactful project that benefited greatly from his insight and dedication.

His strong technical and interpersonal skills made him such a trusted member of our team that we often involved him in technical interviews for new hires — a testament to the respect and confidence he earned from his peers and leads.

Although he has since founded his own company, Mohammad remains deeply involved in technical work, software development, design, and R&D. I’m confident that his mix of technical expertise, professionalism, and team spirit will make him a valuable asset in any endeavor he chooses.

I wholeheartedly recommend Mohammad to anyone looking to collaborate with a capable, thoughtful, and driven professional.
